Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Tunl Focus, a productivity app operated by Guillotine Life. By using Tunl Focus, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. How we handle your data is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Tunl Focus
• If you're in the European Economic Area, you must be at least 16, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country
• You must also be old enough to form a binding agreement where you live
• If you use Tunl Focus on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it

Your account

• You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure
• You're responsible for activity that happens under your account
• Don't share your credentials, and let us know promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account

What you can do

• Use Tunl Focus to manage your tasks and stay focused
• Sign in to back up and sync your data
• Connect Google Calendar to import events as tasks
• Export your data anytime

What you can't do

• Use Tunl Focus for any illegal activity
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code
• Resell access to Tunl Focus or scrape the service
• Share your account credentials, or upload content you don't have the rights to
• Harass or abuse other users (when shared and collaboration features ship)
• Bypass rate limits or our security measures

Your content

You own your tasks and everything you write. You grant us a limited license to host, store, sync, back up, process, and display your content back to you, solely to provide the service. We don't claim ownership of anything you write, and this license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept briefly in routine backups.

Our intellectual property

Tunl Focus, including its software, design, logo, and name, belongs to us and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms let you use the app as intended; they don't give you any right to our branding or code beyond that.

Third-party services

• We use Supabase, Firebase (Google) and Vercel to run and host the app
• Google Calendar, only if you connect it, is governed by Google's terms, including the Google API Services User Data Policy. Tunl Focus only reads your calendars unless you turn on two-way sync
• Your use of these integrations is also subject to those providers' terms

App stores

When you download Tunl Focus from the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to that store's terms, and the following applies:

• This agreement is between you and Guillotine Life only, not Apple or Google. We, not the app stores, are solely responsible for Tunl Focus and its content
• Your license to use Tunl Focus is limited to devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store and Google Play usage rules
• We, not the app stores, are solely responsible for any maintenance and support, and for any product or legal claims relating to Tunl Focus, including product liability, regulatory compliance, and claims that Tunl Focus infringes someone else's rights
• For the iOS app, if Tunl Focus fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent allowed by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Tunl Focus
• You confirm you're not located in a country subject to a U.S. embargo, and you're not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you when you use the iOS app
• The store you bought through handles billing and refunds for purchases made through it

Pricing & billing

• Tunl Focus is free to use locally on your device without an account, for as long as you like. An account on its own does not unlock anything; syncing, backup and the other paid features come with a subscription, and there is no permanent free synced tier
• Pro is a paid subscription, offered monthly or yearly. The price is the one shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe; we do not restate it here so that it is stated in exactly one place
• Subscriptions begin with a free trial: a 30-day free trial on the web and on Google Play, and a 1-month free trial on the Apple App Store. Starting the trial requires a payment method everywhere; nothing is charged until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing
• If Tunl Focus ever loses data you had synced to us, email us and we will refund your last twelve months of payments
• Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, and your payment method is charged within 24 hours before the period ends, unless you cancel first
• Your free trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then. We'll remind you before you're charged
• You can cancel anytime. On the Apple App Store or Google Play, manage or cancel in your store account settings; for direct web billing, cancel in your account settings or by contacting us
• Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed and refunded under that store's rules. Web purchases are billed directly
• Prices may change. We'll give you notice before a change affects you

Our service

• We provide Tunl Focus on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis
• We don't guarantee 100% uptime; the app may go down for maintenance or other reasons
• We may add, change, or remove features at any time
• We may suspend accounts that violate these terms

Disclaimers

Tunl Focus is a productivity tool, not professional advice. To the extent the law allows, we provide the app without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We're not responsible for decisions you make based on tasks the app surfaces, for missed deadlines, or for task content loss caused by clearing your browser when you're not signed in.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tunl Focus and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or missed deadlines arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or the minimum your local law allows.

Indemnification

You agree to cover reasonable costs and claims that arise from your misuse of Tunl Focus, or from your violation of these terms or of someone else's rights. We'll tell you promptly about any such claim and let you take part in the defense.

Termination

• You can delete your account anytime from Settings, Data, Permanently delete account, or by contacting us
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
• If nobody signs in to your account for 24 consecutive months, we may close it as dormant and delete the copy of your data on our servers. We'll email the address on the account 30 days and 7 days beforehand, and signing in on any device cancels it. An account with an active subscription is never treated as dormant. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is deleted and what is kept.
• On termination, your data is removed within 30 days, except for copies in routine backups, which delete themselves within 400 days, and the minimum payment records that tax and accounting law require us to keep
• Sections that should reasonably survive termination, such as content licenses, IP, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnification, survive

Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us at info@guillotine-life.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally. If we can't resolve it within 60 days, any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Changes

We'll update these terms as Tunl Focus evolves. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced by email and in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.

Other terms

• If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies
• Our not enforcing a term right away doesn't waive it
• You can't transfer these terms to someone else, but we may transfer them as part of a business change such as a merger or sale
• If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them to improve Tunl Focus without any obligation to you
• These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Tunl Focus
